Manic Monday!

Today was a lot of fun!!!

a few weeks ago, I was talking to my kids about how Autumn was flying a kite...and almost ALL of them had told me that they had never flown a kite.

WHAT?!?

WELL.... March was coming up AND we're going to be doing forces in motion here soon... so it's PERFECT!! So, I brought in our kite today, PRAYING for wind.

And wouldn't you know it?? It was perfect!!

So I brought the kite out for recess. They had so much fun with it!!!

We talked about wind pushing it and how they could go only one way, otherwise it would drop....

seeeee??? A GREAT science lesson!

PLUS, it was SUCH a beautiful day outside - it kind of elongated our recess time  why not do Science outside??

Then it was inside for math time!

We did my Fish math today...

We read Dr. Seuss' One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish...

Actually, I read the majority of it and then they had to "guess" the last word of the phrase...JUST to make sure they knew how to rhyme. lol

Then, I passed out the fish. I always forget NOT to fill up the cup, because their light orange numbers are always SOOOO much, that they have to make their own boxes on the graph. lol

So they estimated, sorted, tallied, graphed, counted, added and wrote about their data!

Fun times :) Click HERE to check it out!

And last, but not least... the hubs found me a cast iron muffin/corncake pan a while ago at a garage sale/antique shop...and he knew I'd love it because I cook almost EVERYTHING in my cast iron skillet already....
so I decided to use it tonight.

I used crescent rolls (because EVERYTHING can go in a crescent roll - yum!) and added cream cheese and jelly... and made a little pouch - and baked YUM!!

I'm sorry I don't have an after picture for you - but ummm... they were all eaten before I could get a picture - ha!

So that's my Monday... well, I don't have any pictures from boot camp for ya - but let me tell you, I am already SOOOO sore!! She worked us hard.... it was her birthday - I hope she likes her present! My pain - ha!

LOVE your Math with Fish activities! I just purchased Math with a Deck of Cards and the Thunderstorm literacy pack and I should have added that to my cart last night! I wish I was somewhere where we could go outside for recess and fly a kite! Looks like so much fun :) We are praying not to get 6-12 inches of snow tonight! Another snow day= an extra day added on to the end of our year!

I want one of those pans! We live and die by our cast iron pot. We cook EVERYTHING in there!

I love that you're the kind of teacher who will find a way to bring kites into the mix for your kiddos to try!! And your fish activity is so fun, we're doing it on Friday!

What a great science lesson! I just did a post on getting the kids outside, this is a great idea & I'll definitely be doing once it warms up here in NJ! I'm not sure where you live but I can rule out the Northeast that's for sure!

I'm sorry for posting here, but I can't find an email for you. =)

Can I say WOW and you just made my week! I just looked at my comments and saw you made a purchase. You were one of the first blogs I stalked, and I'm honored you did that. =)

Please let me know if you have any feedback for me! Thanks so much! Have a great weekend.
