magnets and fractions

Well, I'm still not in the system yet...so today was another day of winging it - and since our copies are counted, no one is really jumping at the chance to let me use their copies! haha!! Don't blame them really...lol.

So, I did like our WHOLE week of magnet lesson in one day today, just to take up time! lol

I used THIS...which I won from Organized Classroom Blog contest on Facebook!

My kids loved it!!

We talked about how magnet poles can repel and attract and compared differences in magnet strengths...and played with cars with opposite poles! It was fun :)

Hopefully tomorrow I can start printing and copying, but since I still can't, we did a foldable (aren't you proud, Mor?!).

LOVE the hands on this one :)

This one is a picture of the PENDULUM that we talked about!

Ok, my friend just sent me this email...this is redkid.net...it's way cool! Go check it out!

And here's my friend/co-worker and me as Thing 1 and Thing 2...I'm so sad, she's going to be leaving us after this year :(
But I got a picture of our Principal and AP, and it's going in the yearbook, baby! ha!!

On another note, have you SEEN the awesomeness that Michelle has created again!?!?

The 3AM Teacher

This girl is seriously talented!! Her new Soccer set is 96 graphics!!!

I have so many plans for these fabulous graphics....but I don't have the time tonight (I want all my hours in the day back so I can create!! lol), but here's something that I'm going to be using with my kiddos tomorrow...we're doing fractions, so this'll be perfect!
I seriously cannot wait to start my soccer math centers!

Click the pic to grab, but leave some lovin' please :)

ok, so I hope you've got your shopping carts full!!! I've got stuff in mine, but not nearly as much as I want :P DARN all you creative geniuses!!  lol
Don't forget, I'll be having a sale too!! Stop on by my store and take a look :)

Guess Who's Back...Back Again

(did you sing that title?? hehe)

Well, I survived the day!!

Actually, it went really well. It felt really good to be back! Lots of hugs and excitement - from my coworkers, ya'll!!! YEP! THEY LOVE ME! hehe...my kids do to.

And when it was time to go home?? The kids moaned! They didn't want to go home. :) awww...I feel loved.

So the day was great!

EXCEPT....

I don't exist in the system right now (they "delete" you when you go on leave), so I couldn't get log into any computers, get any emails, print anything, OR copy anything....

Yeah...

So, I just had to wing it...like All. Day. Long.  ha!! I actually could NOT have planned it better...

Here's what we did....

I noticed our February Quilt wasn't on the wall, so we started that today :)

Love them Reagan!

And our skill this week is inferencing, so I busted out with my art skills to do Abby's activity...they did great with it!
(p.s...can you tell what kind of purse I have?!? hehe)

I also figured out that we are doing fractions right now...sooo....I just HAPPEN to have some great clip art that I can use to make some fun stuff! That's what I'm working on tonight now that chillins are in bed. :)

I read this book...
Pizza Pizzazz (Hello Reader! Math. Level 3)

and it was PERFECT!! Not only did it deal with Fractions, but we practiced our inferencing skills the whole book guessing who he was going to feed the pizza to! Couldn't have planned it better, I tell ya!

OHHH!!!

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT!!

Does anyone want to be my friend?!

HA!

No, seriously.

Our story this week started with a letter....so in my "winging-it" fashion, I decided we were going to write letters to OUR pen pals....except....we don't have any!! lol

WANTED:

Pen Pals for a 2nd grade class in Florida.
I'd PREFER someone in a totally different climate than us - so we can learn about different weathers and such. I know there isn't much of the school year left, but I thought it'd be cool to do it a few times still....

Leave me a comment if you are interested.  thanks!

And I FINALLY got to take in my wreath that I won from Kelley's giveaway long ago! I LOVE it :)

And....

LOOK what my friend made me!!! Found these when I got back to school...

that's me!! Teacher of ALL things...hehe

AND she drew me this...so I came home and painted it - OF COURSE I had to do a photo-op with my girls :)

And my friend over at The Land of 2nd Grade put together a little sale sign!
Don't forget that Wednesday is the BIG sale!!

Head on over to my TpT store
and Amy's TpT store to take a look around!

Ok, I have to go now....I have MUCH less time that before in my days...lol...SOOO much to do, not nearly enough time!! I don't know if I'll get to blog stalk tonight - gasp!!

THANK YOU for all your well wishes for my day!! You guys are so sweet!!

I wasn't even looking to redo it...it just sort of happened one day when I was talking to Erika.

Erika who??

^ THAT Erika!

Didn't she do great??

I'm so happy with it!!

It's soft, but cheery and happy and bright and some of my fave colors with my daisies...

She's really great to work with too!! She was very patient with my indecisiveness...ha!

So PLEEEEEAAAASE, grab my NEW button! Isn't it just UBER cute?!?!

I'm so excited - it's like a whole new me to start off my return to work...it put me in a happy mood!! Not that I wasn't already in one. :)

Also, my dear friend, Kelley, is having a Birthday giveaway!! Get this, she is giving away $25 to TpT...JUST in time for the big Leap Year sale!!
So go "bug" my good friend and become her new follower and enter to win...although you'd be diminishing my chances to win, so I don't know how I actually feel about you entering to win...but DEFinitely be her new follower! ha!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And it's a GIANT linky!!
The FABulous Farley has created another linky so you can see all the fabulous people who are participating in the Leap Year Sale at TpT!!
Go check it out!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, I must go prepare for my return to work tomorrow!

I have to take ALL that to work with me..PLUS my lunch and purse....NOT to mention I have to take the girls to their babysitter, so I have their bag and lunchboxes! lol It's gonna be a FUN morning! :)

Just want to piggy back on what Jaana said tonight....(p.s. Congrats HOLLY!)...I just want thank ALL OF YOU for keeping me so excited about teaching - even when I haven't been there!

Winners and a Sale!

Thank you to everyone who "entered" my Roll a Lorax Giveaway yesterday!! I picked the winners...
it was EVERYONE!

haha! I was feeling like everyone was giving me great reasons - and I didn't want lucky #1 to not be lucky...lol, so I just gave it to everyone who entered.  So check your emails, you should have it! But there were a few people who didn't leave their emails, and I couldn't respond via email because they STILL haven't set up their blogger to let me respond via email! You can see how by checking out THIS post! :) If you were one of these people, leave me a comment with your email - and I'll get it to you! No cheating...I still have those comments in my email - ha!

In other news...have you heard about the Leap Year Sale that TpT is throwing??

They are giving you a coupon code to get 10% off you purchases, and A LOT of people will be putting their stores on sale for 20% off, so that's like 28% off - perfect for Leap Year! lol! Make sure you enter the code to get the extra 10% off....

So head on over to my store and start making your lists! hehe

You can stock up on my Dr. Seuss stuff....

or even get ready for St. Patty's day!

Ok, so let's talk Dr. Seuss.....
I realize that his Birthday is THIS coming Friday. And NORMALLY, I'd do a week long event the week of...BUT...not this year.
Since it's my first week back, I'm not going to "waste" all my AND YOUR fabulous Seuss stuff on a week where I'm trying to get reacclamated, as well as my students. SO, I am going to start it on Friday, then do it all next week...and it works out perfectly, because that is a "review" week in our reading series, so I can pretty much do whatever...hehe.

Alright y'all...it's Sunday - guess that means it's back to "Sunday Plan Day!"

Tomorrow is going to be HECTIC in the morning...OF COURSE hubs has to work, so I have to take the girls to their babysitter (which is in the OPPOSITE direction from work), THEN I have to get to work (late because of dropping off girls), figure out where my kids are so I can quick plan for the day...OH, let's not forget that I have about 3-4 bags of stuff, a FABulous wreath (from Kelley that I won), and my chair that I am taking with me! I hope my kids aren't planning on learning too much tomorrow..lol! I'm just hoping my sub was nice to me and set up my room and board for the usual Monday morning routines!

Okie Dokie...see y'all tomorrow! Even if I just pop in to tell you I survived! lol

NEW TN store and the Lorax and pinning

Good Morning!

So, I have decided to open up my TN store....it has come to my attention that some prefer TN over TpT (I've gotten a few emails), so you now have both to choose from.
I am  slowly uploading all my products to TN. Thankfully, there isn't that many! lol
But I would love for you to make me one of your favorite shops. :)

In other news,

I was able to finish my Roll a Lorax pack last night....it's so cute! hehe I can't wait to use it with my kiddos. I showed it to my 5th grade teacher friend and she said it'd be cute for her kids too!

This Roll a Lorax can be used from Kinder and up!
There are 11 pages; Directions of which pages to use and patterns are included in pack

Skills included in this pack are:
Tally Chart
Bar Graphs
Adding
Least/Most
Median, Mode, Range, and Mean

It is separated and organized to be able to use with your specific grade.

He's another $1 item...I seem to like that number. :)

In case you're wondering why all of my stuff has so many different levels in it, it's because of my clientele in my school. We are a SEVERE Title I school - like 86% on Free and Reduced lunch. A lot of my kids are below grade level, but I always have some that should be in the GSP classes too, so I like to create activities that will be a slight challenge for my BGL and OGL kids, but I also need something that'll challenge my 4-5 AGL kids...And since I've taught every grade from 2-5, I kind of know what they need to know for the next year...and I'm getting better at knowing 1st grade for my BGL kids (most of what I'm learning is coming from y'all!! So, thanks!).

Oh yea...you DO HAVE permission to pin me!! lol

Wonder why I'm telling you?? Click the pic below to see what the hoopla is all about - Laura Candler has done a post about it.

Mardi Gras recipes

Mardi Gras dinner was YUMM-O!!!

On the menu was:

Andouille and Shrimp Gumbo with Rice
Cheesy Garlic bread
Beignets
Mock-King Cake Knots

I have to apologize, my intent was to take pictures of the cooking, the eating, and the silliness of bead-wearing, beignet eating fun!

But alas, things got hectic and I got side tracked.

I DO have recipes :)

First up:

Gumbo

...which I made in the crockpot. (I know...that's NOT the norm, Gumbo is an all-day affair, but hey - for busy mommas, it works - and it's still yummy! lol)

Shopping List:
3 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons oil
1/2 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1/2 inch slices
2 cups frozen cut okra
1 large onion, chopped
1 large green bell pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon ground red cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can (14.5 ounce size) diced tomatoes, undrained (I used diced tomatoes with peppers and onions already in it for more yumminess)
1 package (12 ounce size) frozen shelled deveined cooked medium shrimp, rinsed
1 1/2 cup uncooked regular long-grain white rice
3 cups water
mmm....the "trinity" onions, green pepper, and GARLIC!

DIRECTIONS:

In small saucepan, combine flour and oil; using a whisk helps with clumps! Cook, stirring constantly, over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to medium; stir constantly, about 10 minutes or until mixture turns reddish brown.
It'll almost look like a penny - and it'll smell pretty bleh too! lol

Place flour-oil mixture in 3 1/2 to 4 quart Crockpot.

Stir in all remaining ingredients except shrimp, rice and water.

Cover; cook on low setting for 7-9 hours. When ready to serve, cook rice in water as directed on package. Meanwhile, add shrimp to gumbo mixture in crockpot; mix well. Cover; cook on low setting for additional 20 minutes. Serve gumbo over rice.

Next up...

Cheesy Garlic Bread

I'm so bummed I don't have a picture of these...but they are DEVINE!

Shopping List:
french loaf bread, cut into slices (probably more thick than thin)
stick of butter (room temp)
and as many garlic cloves as  you want....ha! I am obsessed with like garlic, so I used like 4-5 cloves, and you want to mince it (I have a garlic press, or you can chop it fine!)
Shredded cheddar cheese

DIRECTIONS:

mix the butter and garlic, then slather each slice of bread with it. Top with cheese. Put in the oven and BROIL it...make sure to watch it!! as soon as the cheese is melted, they are done! You will get a nice crisp on the crust on the top, but the bottom stays nice and "squishy" like fresh bread still....ummm. yeah. we ate the WHOLE loaf last night! lol

Next up...

Beignets!!

Ok, you can NOT go to New Orleans and NOT go to

It is SOOO yummy!! You buy a sack of beignets, they give the fried doughy goodness to you in a white paper bag with powdered sugar, and you shake them up - yes please!

So, I had to have beignets for dessert.

Again, no pictures, but that's ok, I found one online...lol!

I used the FABulous Paula Deen's recipe....beware - this recipe makes a TON!

And Lastly,

King Cake Knots

It is tradition to buy your friends & family a King Cake during this week. AND there is a baby (little plastic thing) baked inside the cake. And whoever finds the baby in their piece of cake, they have to buy the next King Cake for everyone.

We actually still have this baby from like 6 years ago when we found it in our piece. It's a running joke that we take it on our vacays with us and take pictures of all of it's travels! lol

Anyway, I didn't want to bake a huge cake, so I found this recipe from Plain Chicken...

And YES!!! You HAVE to add the sprinkles...it makes SUCH a world of difference!! It was like,
Aha!! We HAVE arrived at Mardi Gras! lol

So, there you have it!
Hope you like them!
"Try them, try them! Try them and you may!" lol

And in honor of my little Seussian quote:

This is how A put him together - isn't he cute!? She did so great! lol

This is my little Lorax man I made out of felt....he's coming to school with me and my kids are going to do a little math activity on this felt storyboard frame I made (in the beginning of the year).

I haven't finished the math activity yet - but it's going to be a "Roll A Lorax," but with math extensions....Maybe I'll get that finished tonight.

Today is my LAST official day off work. I go back on Monday. So I've decided to make it a PJ day!! Good thing too, because A is trying NOT to get sick...her head and body feel hot and all she wants to do is lay around and watch t.v...so not like her. Usually we are fighting with her to stay IN the house...lol!

How do I feel about going back on Monday?
I'm really excited! I'm going to miss my baby girls like crazy - especially B since I haven't been away from her yet.

But I know I'm going to be ok, since I've done this before. And they have a really good babysitter - either their Daddy or my friend if Daddy has to work, so I know they're in good hands.

And since I know I'm going to be ok, it's making it easier on me. Though I'm sure Sunday night will be spent with LOTS of snuggling...with B, not hubs - hehe.

Housekeeping

It has come to my attention that Google is "deleting" their Friends+ thingy....I don't how that will affect me/us!! I'm really tech-illerate. Seriously, I know how to click and make things happen, but I don't get all this jargon (I need lessons from Reagan's genius 10 year old! lol).

So help me out here.

Since I can't follow y'all by clicking your "follow me" buttons, I have to physically copy and paste your blog link (I totally just typed that word as blink! lol) into my "subscribe" box in google reader. That's the only way I have gotten it to work - and stay working. Otherwise, you guys never show up in my blogger dashboard. I just have to read everything in google reader. It's all good. I don't mind.

So now....will this affect me? Will I lose all of you!?! I don't wanna lose you!! I'm almost to 400!! lol (How in the WORLD did that ever happen!? I STILL get totally excited when I see my follower numbers go up in both my blog and TpT store...lol. "They like me! They REALLY like me!!" lol)

Just wondering...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Next....
So, I did a post a while ago about being able to reply to your comments....NOT on the actual blog, but by email. You know how you get notifications in your email that you have received a comment? Well, you can actually reply to THAT email and it'll go to the person who commented - in THEIR email...as long as they have it set up that way.
I have a *few more followers since I did that post, and some of you new ones, I can't reply to because THIS is what I see when I try to
 and I can't get the reply thingy to work on my blog, so....
PUH-LEEZ go HERE to check out that post.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Don't forget to enter the giveaways!!!

Jaana's ends on the 26th...the day before I go back to work...hmmmmm....

And TBA's ends tomorrow (Friday)!!

Seuss Week

And CONRATS to Staci for winning Reagan's giveaway!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And HERE are some "Doctor" Reader's Theater
They aren't very pretty because I wanted to save space - keep it just for the words, some of them were already like 4 pages long..lol, but I DID have to add my fave clip art from Michelle!
This pack contains 4 Reader's Theater from the books of
Green Eggs and Ham
Fox in Socks
The Cat in the Hat
The Cat in the Hat Comes Back
Click the pic to go download.
While you're there, you can check out all the TONS of "Doctor" stuff I have!
Ok, I think that's it...
I'm off to make my grocery list for Mardi Gras dinner tonight! :) yum!!!
