Feelin' the Love and Winners!

So this week has been a little rough....it's like my students have regressed....they can NOT follow simple instructions - ahhh!!!!!
Not all of them...some of them are my solid rocks...and I tell them how much I love them for it all the time! And I do love ALL my students, of course, I really do...but this week, they have just made me feel like it's the first day all over again.

BUT, I have been feeling some love too....

This little note came from a parent on the bottom of my newsletter (I have parents sign the bottom saying they read the newsletter) - this just totally made my day!

AND, when I was checking their Spider Math Centers one day, I found this little love note...melt my heart!

Speaking of Spiders...my kids are LOVING our spiders lessons...In fact, there's no way we could finish in a week, so we're going to have to overlap with my bat unit next week....

To start with, we talked about what was in our schema...and as we've been learning, we've been moving what was in our schema to the misconceptions box if we need to.

(look at everything they know already!)

We also did a tree map...and this is one of the mornings that just made me feel like things actually work in my room! It was written on the board to finish their tree map in their journals (they had started it the day before, but didn't have time to finish) as part of their morning work...and they actually did it!!! I didn't even have to tell them...it was such a beautiful sight!

Check out my Spider Literacy Centers...there are more pix to come next week!

I totally understand about kids not listening this week. My firsties were doing so well and then the last 2 days they were like monkeys. We did have conferences and I had several parents say this year has been their child’s best so far. It makes it so much more rewarding when you know the kiddos and parents are happy too. Love your Spider unit!! It is full of so much great stuff. I just added it to my wish list. Thanks for sharing your great ideas!!

Yep the listening ears fell off in my room too. I blame last weekend's full moon :)

Yes! For some reason last week seemed a little rough across a few grade levels at our school! Not sure why...but, as long as they love you, they will buy in, and it looks as though they looove you a lot!!

It feels so good to have a parent leave a comment like that! You totally deserve it! Hope this week is better :)

I think all of us can relate to your day! It seems like one day my 3rd graders are right on and other days I wonder if I'm teaching the same class! Just part of the ups and downs! The "love notes" were sweet!
Your spider unit is adorable! Thanks for sharing!

Last week was a little rough with my kiddos, too. Maybe it was last Sunday's full moon. ;)

Love all your little love notes. They certainly go a long way to make a teacher's day!
