Favorite Picture Books

So Lindsey,
The Teacher Wife

is having a favorite picture book linky...

umm...

yes please!!

I LOVE reading books to my kids...

and my classroom library is QUITE extensive...

Let me see if I can find a picture for you...

Hold please (cue elevator music)

They are all organized - the left black shelf: top shelves are chapter books, ABC order by author...and the bottom is my FICTION picture books ABC order by author.

Right black shelf: Top few shelves are a mix of picture and chapter books that correlate with months (so, all my Begining of School year books, Johnny Appleseed, Fall, Halloween...etc)
Bottom of that shelve is poetry, phonics/grammar tales, fairy tales, etc.

The middle display is where I put all my books for that month/week that correlate with the themes...

The white shelf is my "series" - Magic Tree House, Junie B., Cam Jansen, Horrible Harry, Magic School Bus, etc...
and my NON fiction WAS on the bottom there...but I have WAY too much now for them to be there.
They were organize by subject (dewey decimal, if you will) - JUST like in a library.

That's not how my classroom library is organized now...but it's pretty much the same, I just had to move books around because I have accumulated even MORE since these pictures...

When school starts up, I will be sure to update these pictures for you.

That's CRAZY...isnt' it??

AND they're ALL labeled for A.R...ha!!

Anyway...

I could go ON  and ON and ON about favorite picture books...

but here are just a few...

ANYTHING Robert Munsch,
but THIS is one of my faves from him...

Love Amelia...and this one is great for beginning of year....

LOVE Patricia Polacco - but I cry EVERY time I read this one...my kids are always in awe that their teacher has tears in her eyes from reading a book to them...lol

Anything by Jan Brett

Anything by David Shannon

All the Knuffle Bunny books

Ok...that's all I can think about on my 1/2 cup of coffee (even though I already did my workout this morning..lol)

When school starts up, I'm sure I'll add more to the mix - after going through my books.

Hello! I'm organizing a charity drive for a teacher blogger's family- her son was recently diagnosed with leukemia, and I'm inviting people to send "Hats for Kenton" and some little things for his family.

You can read more about it here:

Since your blog is so popular, I wondered if maybe you could help spread the word! No big deal if you can't or don't want to; just thought it never hurts to ask! Thanks!

Wow-that library is just amazing! I read Thank You Mr. Falker to my summer school kids-they were all struggling readers. I have never seen kids so interested in a story-they hung on every word. I think it's a very meaningful story, especially when I tell them that little girl is an author now! :)
