Monday Motivation - Word Walls

This week, Monday Motivation  is all about Word Walls!

Now, my word wall changes every time I'm in a different room.  But here is one way I had my word wall - I put my alphabet under my white board and then the words under the alphabet. I really liked doing it this way because the words were at the kids' level and they could access them so easily.

In my room that I'm in now, I have put them on my cabinets....

But I have always done the shape words - I feel like it helps the kids see the words, especially the visual learners.

I also have them in our Spelling Journals.... if our words fr the week aren't in there, then we write them in there (along with our Spelling Words).  If they are in there, then we highlight them (with a crayon). We use our journals for EVERYTHING.

When we do our writing, they always have their Spelling Journal for a reference

When I go over their writing with them, I will underline words that they need to fix, by going in their spelling journals or using their word walls (both work!)

We do activities throughout the week do reinforce our word wall words, and I also have my kids differentiated at different levels for their Sight Word Center, where they practice sight words where they tested at (up through 300 words!).

As a group, we use our word walls to do sight word hunts throughout the week in our poems and such...

So - what does your word wall look like? I'd love to get a few more ideas!

Thanks for sharing all your ideas! How do you manage to fit all of this in ( spelling words, guided reading, word work, poems, sight words, writing) in a day? How do you make your shape words?
