Celebrate Reading Week!

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite weeks.
I know I say this about all my weeks I do. haha. But it is.

My kids get so excited when the bookshelf dons all the Dr. Seuss books.

And all week long, I dress for Dr. Seuss... with my CAT shoes!

I have my class dress for the week too!

So here are activities for the week....

Monday was Cat in the Hat day, so at home, we practiced our Cat in the Hat drawing skills.  I'm not going to lie - I am SUPER impressed with Brooklynn's drawing here.

Get the directed drawing from the ever-fabulous Jennifer at First Grade Blue Skies {HERE}

In class, we talked about the traits of Cat in the Hat. I always love to see their perspective...and WHY they think that about him.

This year, they did the directed drawing version of the art after they did the writing.

Last year, they did the cut and paste craft.

Either way, I love them!

Tuesday we did some rhyming activities with Green Eggs and Ham.

I'm always so amazed at how hard it is for them to generate the rhyming words with proper prepositions. But, this is why I like to do this activity every year.

 Wednesday was Wacky Wednesday (of course!) and we wrote a class book that day.

This one is my favorite - hahaha!

We also did the "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think" book and the activities came from Abby (a few years ago).

And Schlopp! Schlopp, Schlopp, beautiful Schlopp! Beautiful Schlopp with a cherry on top!

On Thursday, we read the book, "Oh! The Places You Will Go!" and we talked about what they want to do when they grow up.

I always love to see their responses. Some are SO creative!

I just love this picture of her...haha

This one wants to be a You-Tuber.... go for it, dude! There are tons of people doing that now.

This one is so cute!

Last year, I did them a little differently, but they were still SO cute!

Friday was the book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and of course we had some fun with my {Fish Math!}

Sorting by color....

Then making tens and ones...

Graphing...

Adding...and there's a comparing page too.

They made their thing hats too....we have numbers in our class, so they always get the idea to put their number on their hat. I never tell them, but I love it when they do it!

And with my kiddos at home?? I never leave them out... we did some "Ten Apples Up on Top" fun!

Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite weeks.
