Polar Express and Snowball Olympics - Freebies!

Woohoo!!! We're on Winter Break!!

We might be a LITTLE excited! haha!

Anyway, the last few days, we did a lot with our Polar Express. We did Text Talk  and we put our vocabulary words into our Vocabulary Journals. Then, we did a sequencing activity. They colored the trains, then cut them out and rearranged them in order. Then they glued them to two LONG strips of paper.

In the morning of our Polar Express party, we went outside and did our Snowball Olympics. It was so much fun! I sometimes do this in January, but we did it today for whatever reason. For snowballs you can either use the big marshmallows, or cotton balls. But beware of a windy day if you use cotton balls!

First they did the Snowball Relay

Then they did the Snowball Shot-Put, but I don't have a picture of that....that where they but their hand on their shoulder with the snowball in their hand (fingers are flat, so they don't get tempted to throw it), and they thrust their arm up to shoot out the snowball. Then they took their measurement tool of choice - either a yardstick or a ruler and they had to measure it.

Then came the Snowball Catapult.

Again, they had to measure how far their marshmallow went using either a ruler or a yardstick.

They had a recording sheet they had to record their estimations and their measurement data on.

This activity is always a hit! If you want the recording sheet, click {HERE}.

I'm off to take my first winter break nap with my girls! yay!

Thank you for this great sequencing activity. Not only am I going to use it with my kinders next year, but I made a copy to send to my grandson in Kentucky. Great way to keep his reading skills going over the holidays, too.
