Organize your Common Core Standards!

I posted this picture on my Facebook Page this morning...

and I've had a few questions on how I organize my Common Core gradebooks and "I Can" statements.

So here's a blogpost with pictures on how I do it!

First, I got a 1" in binder. You won't need much bigger, but if all the standards are on one side, then it'll be bunched up and thicker on one side of the binder.
(Just accordion the standards in the sleeves, and it'll work.)

In each page protector, I put in the cover page for each standard, and then in the SAME sleeve, I house all the standards.

Behind the cover page and standards, I have the gradebook sheets that go with that sections.

Here's what it looks like as a "pan" out on the whole binder.

When I display them, I'm going to use pocket charts. Remember the Target Finds post??? Yep! They match my standards posters perfectly!
I have the header cards for each "subject" and then I'll put in the standards. My goal is to change them daily...BUT, I'm sure it'll be more like weekly! ha

Sometimes you might be able to fit 2 subjects on one pocket chart, but if you're going to do it weekly, then maybe just one subject per pocket chart.
OR you can just display them on your board or wall with sticky-tac!

The grade book is now EDITABLE!!! Add all the names and grades ON the computer!

Check them out!
So far I have Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!

Love this!!! Any chance you'll be adding 3rd grade in the near future?

Hi Jess! Yes, that's been on my to-do list for the summer! Just make sure you follow me to find out when I get finished! :)

This seems like a great organized way to have it all in one place. My team and I have been trying to come up with ways to tackle tracking our students progress with the "I can" statements and common core. Glad to find this post!

LOVE this! So glad you said you are going to be working on 3rd because I just found out I got placed in 3rd grade....which I've never had! :) I will definitely keep my eye out for the 3rd grade version of this.

I am in LOVE with your standards and grade book...however I was wondering if there was any chance that you might have the first grade set in just black and white? Maybe a simple line border around the words? It's a lot easier for me to print in black and white than color. :)

I love the organization of it all! I need a check off sheet like that for my binder!

I have been handwriting all of my statements because my kiddos are bilingual and it makes more sense to have them in Spanish...but, I love just having the statements in a binder like that! Hmmmmm :)

I'm in VA and we don't follow the common core. Are they editable? Or could I just get the gradebook and edit it?

Kelly B. I don't have them in B/W, unfortunately. You can print these in B/W, but they really don't take a lot of ink. It didn't even make a dent in my color cartridge when I printed them. The only color on the standards are the little corners. Sorry, I don't have a b/w version!
