I've FINALLY been able to take pictures of our turkey bags that we make every year. First, I copy off all the pieces onto the colored paper...or have the kids trace all the parts....I usually just have the kids trace. (the legs are like 1-1 1/2 inch strips...about 8 inches long).
They cut them all out and accordion fold the legs.
Now, fold the bag to the top of the flap (when it's laying flat, the bottom is facing up...fold to the top of THAT flap)....does that make sense?
Cut on that fold, so the top of the bag is cut off
They measure out the rice, and put it in the baggie and then put the baggie in the brown bag. The rice is not only part of the recipe, but it also helps to weigh the bag down!
Glue on the legs and the feet....
Twist the wattle around a pencil....
glue the wattle to the beak and then glue THAT side of the beak to the head so you can't see where you glue the wattle. Add eyes to the turkey (some kids like to get really creative with the eyes!)
Now, for the part that you cut off the bag, you're going to cut that piece into 2 pieces....
Then accordion fold those and staple them like a fan. Then staple the head to the bag (which has the rice in it) and staple the wings to the side of the bag.
Now...for the TAIL feathers! This is SOOOO fun!!! Take a coffee filter and cut it in half. Draw a black line a little bit up from the bottom...the marker HAS to be Mr. Sketch - it does NOT work with Crayola markers. I found out the hard way one year. lol. Make sure to have paper under the coffee filter so it doesn't bleed through onto your table or desk....found that one out the hard way too - ha!!
Now, in a container or a little bowl, fill it up JUST A LITTLE with water...dip the coffee filter into the water - do NOT put the black line in the water....just the bottom of the coffee filter....you can stick the filter to the side of the container and the kids can watch the colors disperse through the coffee filter!! It's SOOO cool! This has a big name....it's called CHROMATOLOGY. see?? told you it was a big name!
once the colors have gone almost all the way to the top, dump out the water, and let the filters dry. Then tape them to the back of the turkey for the tail feathers!
Tie the recipe around the neck and VOILA! done!

Gobble-Good Turkey Casserole
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1 package onion soup mix
1 cup rice
1 1/2 cups milk
2-3 cups leftover turkey
Combine all ingredients in a large casserole dish. Bake Covered at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
It might be too late for you to do them this year, but maybe you can save it for next year :)
